Atty. Jovy C. Bernabe

Atty. Jovy C. Bernabe was born in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental on June 24, 1970. He studied in La Salle Bacolod for both his elementary and high school years, graduating with distinction on both levels (Honorable Mention).

He then went on to study in the University of the Philippines Diliman, taking up Business Economics and graduating with a degree in 1991. He immediately took up law studies in the UP College of law and graduated in 1996.

After passing the bar, he worked as an Associate in the law firm of Quasha Ancheta Pena and Nolasco. From 1999 to 2000, he served as the Deputy Executive Director of the National Agricultural and Fishery Council of the Department of Agriculture. For exemplary performance, he headed that same agency, from 2000 to 2001 and from 2003 to 2004, as its Executive Director.

Atty. Bernabe has also served in various capacities in different private and government offices as Director of the Northern Foods Corporation and the Philippine Agricultural Development Commercial Corporation, Board Secretary of the Sugar Regulatory Administration and Corporate Secretary of the Human Settlements Development Corporation, Philippine Genetics, Inc. and Philippine Agricultural Development Commercial Corporation. He was also a Commissioner on Bar Discipline for two (2) years and Governor for Western Visayas of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines in 2005 – 2007.

He is a founding partner of the Yasay Regalado Atienza Mendoza and Bernabe Law Offices, and was also a Professorial Lecturer in the New Era University College of Law from 2001- 2005.

Atty. Bernabe holds a Certificate in the Academy of American and International Law in Dallas, Texas, USA. He participated in the APEC Seminar on Commercial Laws and was sent to study Grain Procurement Management for Importers in the Northern Crops Institute of North Dakota State University as well as Purchasing, Marketing and Use of US Soy in Southeast Asia, organized by the American Soybean Association.

He is married to Cristina Alonso of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental and has three (3) children, Francesca Isabel, Gian Niccolo and Juan Fernando.
