Jovita M. Corpuz

the managing director

A Woman Leader in Full Bloom

The current President of the Board of Trustees of the APRACA CENTRAB is Ms Jovita M. Corpuz, who has been serving as Executive Director of the Philippines’ Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC) for ten years now. First elected as CENTRAB President in July 2005, she spurred CENTRAB to new heights of achievements by wielding the same dynamic leadership she is beloved for in the ACPC and which had led to her re-election as CENTRAB President in early 2009.

At the ACPC, she contributed immensely not only in sustaining and bolstering ACPC’s relevance and resilience, but also in extending the boundaries and redefining the essence of agricultural credit as a primary requisite of agricultural productivity. She has consistently ensured ACPC’s faithful adherence to its mission of fostering a financial system that is responsive to the requirements of agricultural and rural development.

Under her leadership, ACPC was chosen by the APRACA as the Center of Excellence in Agricultural Microfinance in 2009. As center of excellence, ACPC joins hands with APRACA in conducting research projects, forums, training courses and exposure visits, providing consulting services and technical support to other member institutions, managing publications and multimedia, and developing technical training guides.

At the APRACA CENTRAB, Exec. Dir. Corpuz has been actively promoting the interchange of information among member countries through inter-country studies, training, consultancy, research and publication services in order to help these countries address critical issues and formulate strategies towards sustainable and effective rural finance markets.

Aside from ACPC, the other members of APRACA CENTRAB are the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Landbank, Quedancor, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), National Livelihood Development Corporation (NLDC), Strategic Investment and Development Corporation (SIDCOR), and the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).

An Agricultural Economics graduate of the world-renowned agricultural school, the University of the Philippines at Los Banos (UPLB), Ms Jovita M. Corpuz was awarded as most distinguished UPLB alumni in 2007 in due recognition of the outstanding accomplishments and excellence she has achieved in government service, particularly in rural financing. Ms. Corpuz earned her Masteral degree in Agricultural Commerce from the Lincoln University Canterbury, New Zealand in 1979.
