Claron R. Alcantara

Usec. Claron R. Alcantara has extensive experience in corporate and public administration.

He spent much of the early years of his career with the Presidential Management Staff- Office of the President, joining the agency in 1988 as Technical Staff Officer of its Regional Operations Group and later serving its various offices around the country.

Usec. Alcantara became Head of the North Luzon Desk from May 1992 to May 1994, and chief of its Regional Field Unit – Cordillera from June 1994 until April 2005.

Prior to joining PMS, Usec. Alcantara was briefly employed by the Department of National Defense as Researcher-Analyst for its Committee on Research and Evaluation and as Economic Development Analyst of the National Economic and Development Authority.

At the House of Representatives, he served as Chief-of-Staff of Congressman Proceso J. alcala (2nd District, Quezon) from July 1, 2005 to June 30, 2007.

With the private sector, he served as President of both the Strategic Products and Technology Applications Inc. (January 1, 2001 to June 2010) and the Digital Access and Technology Applications Inc. (January 1, 2001 to June 2010), and was senior consultant of the Aim Development Management Consultant Team (July 1, 1997 to 30 June 2010).

He was appointed Undersecretary of the Department of Agriculture on 30 July 2011, where he was designated the Chief-of-Staff of the Office of the Secretary. Usec. Alcantara also sits Board of the National Tobacco Administration as ex-officio member, and concurrently serves as General Manager of the Human Settlements Development Corp. also known as the Strategic Investment and Development Corp.

Usec. Alcantara obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of the Philippines–Diliman in 1987. He also holds a Master’s degree in Development Management from the Asian Institute Management, where he was a recipient of three scholarships including that from the school itself. He also completed the Innovation of Economic Development, an Executive Education Program at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
